Field Trips / Treks

TREKS
Everest Base Camp (EBC) & Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)

Both treks are fully booked for summer of 2016 and the participants are now doing practice treks in March.

Nalini Peak Base Camp Trek
This trek is scheduled for 1st July 2016.

Below are details for the trek to Base Camp only. We are planning another expedition to the Peak of Mount Nalini at the same time. We will work out the details in the next week or so.
If you are interested please keep us posted on e-mail.

Mt. Nalini (5268 m), the peak situated in Peer Panjal Himalayan ranges of Manali, Himachal Pradesh. It was first explored and climbed by team Giripremi under the leadership of Everester Mr. Anand Mali who is an Adventure Sports teacher of Vidya Valley School. To honor the contribution of Mrs. Nalini Sengupta, Principal of Vidya Valley School in promoting mountaineering and adventure to youth, Giripremi named this peak as Mt. Nalini.

Mrs. Nalini Sengupta, herself will be part of this trek, what could be the greater highlight of this trek than this!!

Overview: Trek to the base camp of Mt. Nalini is one of the most famous treks in Manali since the peak stands tall just next to the Hampta pass. The reason of Hamta pass being so prominent is that Hamta pass connects Manali valley and the Spiti valley. So one can just avoid the heavy traffic and clutter of Rohtang Pass by trekking across Hamta pass.
The trek begins at Chatru (3100 m), a small joint on Khoksar – Kaza road in Spiti valley situated at the banks of river Chandra. After gradual walk alongside the roaring Chandra river, trek takes right turn in to the valley of Mt. Indrasan. The base camp for Mt. Nalini is established at the place called ‘Shiyagoru’(4000 m) - which means the coldest place! On the lush green riverbed of the Hamta Nala, Base Camp is the most beautiful stay. Magnificent Peak Nalini changing its shades with the sunlight can be seen from here.

    Everest Base Camp Trek:

This is a relatively difficult trek because of the high altitude. It takes fifteen days or more. It should be attempted only be people who have trekked before. Students of 7th grade and higher can attempt it.
The main challenge is in the altitude and reduced oxygen. The trek takes you higher that 17,000 feet.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek This is a wonderful trek for beginners. You have to be b and fit. But it is not exceptionally demanding. The altitude is about 13,500 feet.
Annapurna Base Camp trek is considered as one of the most popular treks in the world. The trek takes off from Phedi located near lake city of Pokhra & goes along side of terraced rice paddies, lush Rhododendrone forest & high altitude landscapes with the Annapurna range in view most of the times. We also pass through diverse geographical & cultural variation with amazing range of flora and fauna. During this scenic trek one can see mighty peaks like Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Mt. Machapuchhere (6993m) & other small mountains like Mt. Gandharva, Mt. Gangapurna, Mt. Himchuli etc.
