Curriculum

Curriculum

Our learning processes are a harmonious mix of tradition and innovation that rest on established standards.

We make learning meaningful, engaging, and productive by advocating Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication & Collaboration in teaching methods.

We ensure development in all vital areas – academic, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical.

We provide an ‘Indian Ethos’ to reinforce children’s roots in our culture and to remain attuned to our national aspirations.

We encourage diversity and pluralism. We provide children all means to develop intellectual curiosity, grow in self-reliance, and delight in their accomplishments.

We lay great stress on parental involvement as it is crucial not only for the wholesome development of the child but also for the success of the school as a community.

The medium of instruction

English is the medium of instruction. We introduce Hindi and Marathi from Std. I, and French from Std. VI.

Assessment and Evaluation

Assessment is a means to identify issues that children might encounter. We track progress of a child against prior performance. We maintain and provide data to parents and the School. Effective assessment is essential for continual review and betterment of teaching practices, methods and materials for improved learning outcomes.

Evaluation allows us to determine the level of attainment of each child against expected outcomes. Grades and marks are one element of our evaluation processes. We alleviate the trauma of examinations and obtain more comprehensive metrics of the development of a child by incorporating projects, experiments, daily classwork, informal tests, quizzes, and participation in co-curricular activities in our assessment pattern.

CISCE

Vidya Valley is proud to belong to the family of schools affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

The Council’s vision is to serve the nation’s children, “through high-quality educational endeavors, empowering them to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society, promoting introspective living, by creating exciting learning opportunities, with a commitment to excellence”. CISCE advocates each child’s holistic development and not only his/her attainment/ achievement in academic subjects. Its approach towards Assessment and Evaluation is Child-centred and extends beyond conventional knowledge/ information based questions. We fully subscribe to the Council’s philosophy.

Our students sit for ICSE Examinations in Grade X. Our first batch passed in 2006.

National Indian Open School (NIOS)

All students of Vidya Valley follow a common curriculum up to class VIII. We offer an option to some students to take the NIOS curriculum from Class IX:

  • Children highly talented in sports who must travel for competitions and advanced training.
  • Children aspiring for careers in performing arts.
  • Children with special needs

The NIOS is an excellent platform as the students can schedule studies, take ‘on-demand’ examinations and continue with English as the medium of instruction.
In every respect, our ICSE and NIOS students have the same opportunity, whether being a prefect, the football captain or leading the debating team.
Our first batch took the NIOS Class X examinations in 2006.
